The seed
Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School , run by a registered society “
Amalorpavam Educational Welfare Society ”, was sown on 26th April 1984 in a
small rented building at Ellaiamman Koil Street with a student strength of
just 30. From there it has sprouted and branched out and today it stands
rooted firmly in the town as a beacon lighting the torch of learning in
every child that thirsts for knowledge under its roof.

Today after
having completed 27 years of service to the student community and over
coming several setbacks and crises which we have fought and conquered
with an obsession and a will, true to our motto “Perseverancia Vincit
Omnia” meaning “Perseverance Conquers Everything”, we are proud to have
acquired the honour and prestige of being one among the best Schools in
the Union Territory of Puducherry with the highest student strength of
7671. |

Though the school has had a very humble beginning with meagre amenities, we now
see it with beautifully constructed spacious buildings replete with all
infrastructure and every available latest facilities which not every school
provides in Puducherry.

variety of social service activities. Our National Green Corps, founded in
November 2002, have since been indulging themselves enthusiastically in cleaning
and greening Puducherry.

SMART EDUCATION – A
REORIENTATION IN EDUCATION SYSTEM
|
|
Smart class project
is the emerging revolution in the history of School education and has been
developed to educate the students through animated computer software which
helps the students in easy understanding of the concepts. The said Smart
Class project has been developed by the school in 2 different phases.
|
|
Smart class systems are installed in all the classrooms, where the teacher
explains the concepts using computer systems. The entire school starting
from LKG to XII is fully converted into Smart Classes. The education
contents have been developed as movies and the animated movie contents have
been mapped with the syllabus of the students so that students are able to
understand the syllabus better than teaching by using chalk and the board
alone. The following components have been installed in every classroom for
smart education. A 42” Plasma television mounted above the Black Board,
Lenovo Core 2 Duo CPU for fetching smart class data from the server,
Wireless keyboard and wireless mouse provided for convenient handling by the
teachers, remote control units are provided for switching ON and OFF of the
CPU and TV. Normally, teachers use Visual Aids like charts, flash cards for
explaining concepts to the students. But now, the said concept is explained
to the students in the form of a video. As it is a large network, there is
always the possibility of greater loss in the data transmitted. In order to
avoid delay and loss in data transmission, high end manageable giga byte
switches are installed to provide error free data transmission.

The software
contents are available for all subjects except Language and computer Science
and the licensed contents are provided by Educomp Solution (P) ltd., The
teachers are trained to handle the softwares and an in-house software
engineer is also available within the school campus for assisting the
teachers in content searching and developments |

Our school
has been awarded the 4th Computer Literacy Excellence Award for
Schools 2005 by the Ministry of Communication and Information
Technology – Department of Information Technology –Government of
India on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The
award has been presented by Thiru.A. Raja- Hon’ble Union Minister
for Communication and Information Technology in the presence of Dr.
Shakeel Ahmad- Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Communications
and Information Technology.

Our success can be
attributed to the dynamism and unstinting service of the staff, the hard and
untiring effort put in by our dear students, the active co-operation of our
parents and well wishers, the timely helping hand extended by our superiors in
the Department of Education and above all the wonderful grace of the Almighty
and the copious and ceaseless blessings of our Patron Saint, Mother Mary. |
